C.O. Baptista Film Screening

C.O. Baptista Film Screening In-Person

C. O. Baptista (1895-1965) was one of the earliest Christian filmmakers to recognize the importance of film for evangelization and education. In 2024, the Library received a grant from the Council on Library and Information Resources to digitize eighty-nine historic and rare Baptista films in Library vault. At this film screening, we will view two Baptista films that illustrate the quality and variety of his work: The Prodigal Son (1944, 23 minutes) and Sun and Shadow (1955, 29 minutes). Film scholars Terry Lindvahl and Simon Tarr will introduce each film and take audience questions. If you are interested in attending the screening, registration is not required but will ensure you receive all updates and reminders about the event.
